Dysfunctional art

My journey

I was born on a beautiful Friday evening in the middle of winter, right when the weekend and happy hours begin. That certainly set the tone for my laid-back and chill lifestyle.

I never had the opportunity to attend art school when I was young, so I started out as a self-taught artist. Later, in secondary school, I went straight into the arts by choosing the “Architecture” track. After graduating from secondary school, I began a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture. These studies added more strings to my artistic bow.

Multicultural, I am Cape Verdean, Belgian, and Congolese. Trilingual, I speak French, Dutch, and English. Eclectic, I infuse all this diversity into my works or, much like the melting pot that I am, I blend various techniques and materials. This results in paintings full of colour, with millions of details to observe. All of it with a nostalgic touch, influenced by Generation Y, in which I was born.

My vision

There is always that disorder, that confusion present in all my works, because I love it when we are bombarded with chaotic information and get lost in it. It pushes us to carefully observe every detail that makes up my pieces, in order to understand the story they want to tell.

By the way, my signature is an architect’s stamp that I place wherever I like on my works, letting it get lost in the twists and turns of my compositions. You can try to spot it amidst all the visual chaos, a bit like “Where’s Waldo?”.

For me, art is when you stop in front of a creation, first for its beauty, then for your own version of the story you imagine behind it.

Art will be whatever you want it to be.

My art, my definition.
What’s yours?
